A light-sport category aircraft used for paid flight training needs an inspection within how many hours?
The preceding 100 hours of time in service.
- 25 hours
- 50 hours
- 100 hours ✔
Why: Section 91.327(c) says an aircraft used for towing or flight training for compensation or hire must have been inspected within the preceding 100 hours of time in service, or have had an airworthiness inspection.
Huh, didn't know that: Light-sport category aircraft may be used for hire only for towing, flight training, checking and testing, and aerial work listed in their documents.
Why did the flight school love its 100 hour check? It was a big round number for the books.
