In Class G at or below 1,200 feet AGL, what weather minimums apply to ultralights?
1 statute mile visibility and clear of clouds.
- 1 statute mile, clear of clouds ✔
- 3 statute miles, clear of clouds
- 1 statute mile, 500 feet below clouds
Why: Part 103's table gives ultralights in Class G, 1,200 feet or less above the surface, 1 statute mile of flight visibility and clear of clouds. Higher up, cloud clearance generally increases.
Huh, didn't know that: In Class G, the 5 statute mile visibility row applies only when you are more than 1,200 feet above the surface and at or above 10,000 feet MSL.
Two's company, three's a cloud, said one raindrop to the other.
