SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/sport-103-single-occupant
How many people may a Part 103 ultralight vehicle carry?
One. A single occupant.
- Two, if the second is an instructor
- Two, if both are certificated pilots
- One, a single occupant ✔
Why: Part 103 defines an ultralight as a vehicle used or intended for manned operation by a single occupant. Passenger rides need a different kind of aircraft and rules.
Huh, didn't know that: The same definition says the vehicle must be for recreation or sport purposes only.
Why do ultralight pilots never get lonely? They always have a good tailwind.
