What does the Red Cross say about jumping into water from a bridge?
Don't do it. Do not enter water from a height.
- Don't enter the water from a height like a bridge ✔
- It's fine if you jump feet first
- It's fine if the water looks dark and deep
Why: You can't see rocks, logs or shallow spots from above, and the impact from a height is hard on your body. The Red Cross says not to enter water from a height, such as a bridge or boat.
Huh, didn't know that: The Red Cross says natural water can have drop-offs that suddenly change how deep it is.
Why did the frog stay off the bridge? He'd rather hop in from the bank like a pro.
