When TIG welding steel, which polarity setting does Miller recommend?
DC electrode negative (DCEN).
- DC electrode negative (DCEN) ✔
- DC electrode positive (DCEP)
- AC
Why: Steel and steel alloys are TIG welded on DC with the torch on the negative side. Aluminum switches to AC.
Huh, didn't know that: Miller suggests 2% ceriated tungsten (gray) as an all-purpose choice for both AC and DC.
Why did the electron stay home from school? It was feeling a little negative.
