SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/cdl-abs-emergency-braking
How does the CDL manual say to brake a vehicle that has ABS?
Brake the same way you always would.
- Pump the brakes rapidly
- The same way you always would ✔
- Slam and hold in every stop
Why: ABS keeps wheels from locking, but you still use only the braking force needed. With working ABS on all axles, you may fully apply the brakes in an emergency stop.
Huh, didn't know that: ABS helps you keep steering control while braking, but it may or may not stop you faster.
Why did the trucker trust ABS? It never let things get locked up.
