SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/comm-glider-no-medical
A commercial pilot flying which type of aircraft does not need a medical certificate?
A glider.
- A single-engine airplane
- A helicopter
- A glider ✔
Why: Section 61.23(b) lists glider flying under a pilot certificate with a glider category rating among the operations that do not require a medical certificate. Airplanes and helicopters require one.
Huh, didn't know that: Balloon pilots giving flight training also skip the medical, but commercial balloon flying for pay needs a second class.
Why won't a Red Bull travel by airplane? It already has wings.
