Which list gives the four phases of a spin in order?
Entry, incipient, developed, recovery.
- Stall, incipient, developed, recovery
- Entry, autorotation, flat, recovery
- Entry, incipient, developed, recovery ✔
Why: A spin starts with an entry, then an incipient phase as it develops. In the developed phase the motion repeats and the spin is in equilibrium. Recovery ends the rotation.
Huh, didn't know that: Some training airplanes never reach the developed phase and can slide from the incipient phase into a spiral dive.
Why did the pilot love the incipient phase? It was the only part of the spin with a good start.
