During preflight, your drone battery is bulging. What does that signal?

Possible impending failure, with risk of sudden power loss or fire.

  1. It is fully charged and ready
  2. Normal wear that boosts capacity
  3. Possible failure, power loss or fire ✔

Why: A swollen or distorted battery case is a red flag. The FAA says it may mean the battery is about to fail, causing abrupt power loss or even an explosion.

Huh, didn't know that: Shrinking flight times can also signal a battery near the end of its service life.

The dad joke
Why did the battery skip dessert? It was already feeling a little puffed up.
