SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/ham-wavelength-formula
What is the formula for approximate wavelength in meters?
300 divided by the frequency in MHz.
- 300 divided by frequency in MHz ✔
- Frequency in MHz divided by 300
- Frequency in hertz times 300
Why: Wavelength in meters is about 300 divided by the frequency in megahertz. For example, 150 MHz works out to about 2 meters.
Huh, didn't know that: The 300 comes from the speed of light, about 300,000,000 meters per second.
Why did the ham love math? Because 300 over anything is a good wavelength.
