SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pilot-moa-vfr-caution
Flying VFR through an active military operations area (MOA), what should a pilot do?
Exercise extreme caution while military activity is going on.
- Exercise extreme caution ✔
- Get a clearance before entering
- Stay on the airways through it
Why: MOAs separate military training from IFR traffic. VFR pilots may enter without a clearance but should exercise extreme caution and check the MOA's status first.
Huh, didn't know that: In active MOAs, military aircraft are authorized to fly faster than 250 knots below 10,000 feet MSL.
Why are fighter pilots great at karaoke? They always hit the high notes.
