SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pilot-prohibited-area
Which type of special use airspace is one where the flight of aircraft is prohibited?
A prohibited area.
- Military operations area
- Alert area
- Prohibited area ✔
Why: The AIM defines prohibited areas as airspace where aircraft flight is not allowed, set up for security or national welfare. MOAs and alert areas can be flown through with caution.
Huh, didn't know that: Prohibited areas are charted with a P followed by a number, such as the one over Washington, DC.
Why did the airplane skip the prohibited area? It already knew the answer was no.
