SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/run-rest-day-before-race
In Mayo Clinic's beginner 5K plan, what should you do the day before the race?
Rest.
- Run the full 5K as a test
- Rest ✔
- Do your longest run of the week
Why: Resting the day before lets your legs arrive fresh on race day. The fitness you need was already built during the weeks of training.
Huh, didn't know that: In that plan, your 5K race pace should be about 1 to 2 minutes slower than your fastest Magic Mile time.
Why did the runner nap before the race? He wanted to be well rested, not well tested.
