SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/scout-send-for-help-note
In the backcountry, you send people out for help. What should they carry?
A written note with the victim's location and condition.
- A verbal message only
- A written note with location and injuries ✔
- A first-aid kit without a written message
Why: A written note keeps key facts from being forgotten. It should list the location, injuries, time, treatment given, people on scene and what help is needed.
Huh, didn't know that: For serious injuries far from roads, Scouts usually treat the victim at the site and send two or more people for help.
Why did the Scout write everything down? His memory was a little sketchy.
