SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/soc-throw-in-no-goal
Can a goal be scored directly from a throw-in?
No. If it goes straight into the opponents' goal, it's a goal kick.
- No, never directly ✔
- Yes, like any kick
- Only from near the corner flag
Why: A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw-in. If the ball enters the opponents' goal, a goal kick is awarded. If it enters the thrower's own goal, a corner kick is awarded.
Huh, didn't know that: If the goalkeeper tips it in, it did touch another player, so the goal can count.
Why didn't the throw-in score? It was all arms and no kick.
