Miller says to allow how much post-flow gas time after the TIG arc stops?
About 1 second per 10 amps.
- About 1 second per 100 amps
- None, shut gas off with the arc
- About 1 second per 10 amps ✔
Why: Post-flow keeps argon around the hot tungsten and cooling weld so they do not oxidize. At 100 amps that is about 10 seconds.
Huh, didn't know that: Miller suggests 15 to 20 cfh for TIG shielding gas flow.
Post-flow is the pause that refreshes. It also cools off the hot tungsten.
