SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/tennis-code-call-own-side
Who makes line calls on your side in an unofficiated tennis match?
You call your own side, according to The Code.
- Your opponent calls your side
- A roving referee calls your side
- You call your own side ✔
Why: The Code for unofficiated matches says each player is responsible for calls on their own side. Making your own calls keeps the match fair.
Huh, didn't know that: In doubles, either partner may make a call, but the one looking down the line usually sees it best.
Why do tennis players make good witnesses? They always call it as they see it.
