SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/tennis-code-prompt-call
According to The Code, when should you make your line call?
Make every call promptly.
- After the point ends
- Promptly, right away ✔
- Only at the next changeover
Why: The Code says to make all calls promptly: before your return goes out of play or before your opponent can hit it. Late calls give you two chances to win the point.
Huh, didn't know that: A late let claim does not count if you chose to play the ball first (The Code, section 17).
What do you call a slow line call in tennis? A late-breaking story.
