SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/tennis-code-no-spectator-calls
In an unofficiated match, can you ask a spectator to help make a line call?
No. Spectators never make calls.
- Yes, any spectator may decide
- No, spectators never make calls ✔
- Only a parent in the stands
Why: The Code says a player shall not enlist a spectator's help with a call. No spectator has a part in the match.
Huh, didn't know that: You may ask your opponent for an opinion on a call; if they give a clear one, you accept it (The Code, section 11).
Why don't spectators make line calls? They only came for the racket.
